The Crotalaria dataset covers 1327 1-degree grid cells out of the total 2169 of sub-Saharan Africa. 549 Crotalaria taxa are mapped, creating a total cover of 7759 records.

Both Species Diversity and Endemism are centred around the Rift Valley system, the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tropical East Africa and the lakes; Victoria, Tanganyika, Meru& Malawi. There is also a second centre of Diversity and endemism in West Angola.

Range Size Rarity (endemism)

The top 2 major hotspots are on the Zaire/Rwanda/Burundi border, and in the Eastern arc mountains of Tanzania. The remaining hotspots are clustered around the Tanzania/Zambia/Zaire/
Mozambique/Malawi border. There is also one outlying hotspot in Angola.
